Frequently Asked Questions

1.Q: Are my teeth suitable for cold-light whitening?

A: In fact, Beyond (The system used by Smiles Better Ltd and many Dental Professional throughout the world), gives magical results for anyone who wants to whiten their teeth. This includes people with teeth which have been stained by smoking or by substances like coffee or tea. Please make sure you have no decay or gum disease.

2. Q: How white can my teeth be?

A: Tests prove that, after whitening with Beyond, the teeth score from 5 to 14 points higher on the VITA scale. The results depend on how discoloured the teeth were originally, but the end result will be naturally white, shiny teeth.

3. Q: How long will the whitening last?

A: This varies from person to person and depends on your diet and lifestyle, but could last for up to two years. Periodic top-up treatments can be taken for clients that frequently have tea, coffee or other staining foods and drinks or who smoke preferably every 6 months or so. (In the USA, some patients have their teeth whitened every time they have a check up).
Should existing customers ever need a top-up treatment, this can be done in one 60 minute session for only £99!!.

4. Q: What is the difference between Beyond and other methods of whitening?

A: This technique whitens the teeth immediatly and has no side effects. It does not damage the teeth, and gives the best possible results. The same system is used by Dentists throughout the world.
This treatment by Beyond has been compared in many surveys with Zoom and Britesmile. Results are the same, if not better, and the only dramatic difference is the reduced price.

5. Q: How long does the treatment take with Beyond?

A: The total treatment takes just over 1 hour. Discolouration which has built up over years will magically disappear. The Smiles Better Ltd price of £295 - NOW £199!!!  includes a consultation and three gel applications combined with the light. This is all carried out in only one visit. This is the recommended amount of applications required for optimum results. If four applications are required due to very heavy staining then this will be done for the same price but will add aproximatly 15 minutes to the duration of your appointment.

6. Q: How safe is Beyond?

A: The Beyond cold whitening technique is absolutely safe. Because Beyond uses cold light at a low temperature, it avoids irritation of the nerves of your teeth. Also, the whitening fluid is water based and does not come into contact with your gums, and will not damage your teeth or tooth enamel. Over a million Americans have used this method and Beyond is recognised as the safest and most effective way of whitening the teeth currently available.

7. Q: Will it hurt?

A: Some clients experience no pain or sensitivity after the treatment. However, a percentage of clients may feel some minor tooth sensitivity, especially if having very hot or very cold foods or drinks within a few hours after the treatment. A mild painkiller can be taken and symptoms usually subside in 24 hours and you will feel completely back to normal within 48 hours.

8. Q: After the treatment, how do I care for my whiter smile?

A: For the first 24 - 48 hours after the Beyond treatment, you must avoid smoking, drinking tea, coffee, cola, red wine and any other dark coloured drinks or foods. Also avoid using coloured mouthwash or coloured toothpaste.
So when arranging your appointment, please book a few days before ‘your big event‘ to allow you to be able to eat and drink whatever you want. Foods you can eat - white bread, white rice, white pasta, potatoes, bananas etc.

9. Q: Is it suitable for everyone?

A: You must be over the age of 16. You must not be pregnant. If you have veneers, crowns, caps or fillings these will be cleaned but the colour will not change. We Recommend that you visit your Dentist for a scale and polish (if required) and to check that your teeth and gums are suitable for whitening. Not suitable for anyone with decay or gum disease.
